The Role of the Ballarat Health Services GP Liaison Unit

The BHS GP Liaison Unit provides a consultancy service to develop and maintain effective relationships between Ballarat Health Service hospital operations and GP services to enhance patient care.

Team Objectives:

  • Provide a consultative service on the GP perspective of patient care.
  • Development and maintenance of GP website.
  • Facilitate communication between BHS and GPs in the community, including the implementation of electronic discharge summaries.
  • Promote awareness of GP requirements across BHS.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for General Practitioners through the Divisions, to contribute to hospital services.
  • Faciliate education for HMO’s on general practice.
  • Promotion of BDDGP Tuesday Lunchtime CPD Calendar.
  • Monitor and evaluate the processes relating to the interface between BHS and the GP community.
